Job Summary
Reporting to the Country Director, the Mwenge Maternity Hospital (MMH) Manager will oversee all aspects of hospital operations and clinical quality. This leadership role involves managing both clinical and non-clinical staff, ensuring high-quality, affordable services, and driving the hospital’s financial growth through innovation, efficiency, and service expansion.
The Manager will be MST’s core strategist for its largest facility, playing a pivotal role in expanding maternity services, ensuring financial sustainability, and positioning MMH as a center of excellence.

Expanding MST’s Maternity Footprint | • Prepare a 3-year sustainability/business plan for maternity facilities.• Present opportunities for service growth and investment to EMT/MDT.• Identify diversification opportunities and new income streams.• Develop and manage marketing strategies. |
Hospital Management | • Develop SOPs for client referral, ANC, and cross-selling.• Implement price revisions, market visits, and demand generation.• Improve client experience and service income.• Use QTA, exit interviews, and mystery client data for quality improvements. |
Client Safety & Quality Assurance | • Develop monthly maternity quality dashboard.• Ensure MSI quality protocols (competency assessments, admission risk protocols, record reviews).• Strengthen client-centric care practices and incident management. |
Staff Management & Communication | • Lead, mentor, and support midwives, nurses, and support staff.• Facilitate staff training and professional development.• Represent maternity unit in internal and external forums. |
Resource & Inventory Management | • Oversee maternity ward supplies, equipment, and medication.• Ensure availability and functionality of emergency obstetric care equipment. |
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or a Medical-related discipline.

Master’s in Public Health is an added advantage.

5+ years of senior management experience in health programs/facilities.

Strong leadership, financial management, and budgeting skills.

Proven experience in Tanzania’s health sector and community service delivery.

Demonstrated capacity in staff development, team building, and clinical quality improvement.

Excellent communication, networking, and advocacy skills.

Strong IT and data analysis skills for strategic decision-making.
